I know it has been awhile since the last post. In the meantime there have been many beautiful children committed to. Here are some of the newly "rescued" children.

Dear Lord, Thank you for sending families for all these children and the many more that have had families recently commit to them. Please keep them safe while they wait and let them know that there are people that love them working hard to bring them home. Keep the families faith high during the stressful times of adoption. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

It is great to see the range of ages this week. Some of these children are older and have been waiting a long time for their family to find them.

Dear Lord, thank you for bringing these children's families to Reece's Rainbow and showing them the way to their children. Please watch over these children while they wait for their ransom to be paid and for their families to travel the many miles to rescue them. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Warrior Wednesday - Moving Mountains

Today for my Warrior Wednesday post (which I have realized that I have been slacking a bit on)will be to warrior for many children. Andrea, director of Reece's Rainbow has posted a Moving Mountains challenge. This page, http://reecesrainbow.org/category/waitingchildren/movingmountains, lists all children with grants of over $2500. We all know that finances are the biggest mountain to climb up and over in adoption. This page shows the sizable grants that move this mountain for families, or at least make it appear more as a hill than mountain. Please visit this page and see the wonderful grants that these children have available to them. These grants are not based on need of the family. They are guaranteed grants to be applied towards your adoption once you receive your first travel date. Some of the children are:

Another amazing week!! I could not believe that number of children whose families have found them. 13!!! This is not an unlucky number for these children. I look at the pictures dates. Some of these children have been waiting such a long time.

Dear Lord, Thank you for another amazing week. Thank you for placing these children on so many people's hearts. We pray that these families are able to travel fast so that these children can finally know the love of a family that they deserve. Pray that obstacles seem small and that these families have the support that they need once their children are home. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We are into our new year with new families committed. It was recently posted that 196 children found families last year through Reece's Rainbow. It would be wonderful to exceed that number in 2012. Take a look at the children who's families found them this week.

Dear Lord, we pray that many children's families find them in 2012 and that we are able to exceed the 2011 numbers. It is hard to know what Your plan is for the waiting children but we know that in Your time you will show us. We pray for these families that they remain strong despite the many forces that try to work against them. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

This past weekend we welcomed in a new year full of new hope, prayers, and challenges. The children below have had their prayers answered. Their families have found them and are working hard to bring them home. The families that have committed to these children will all need your prayers as they will face many challenges in the months to come.

Dear Lord, please watch over these children as their families work hard in the new year to bring them home. Listen to their prayers and help them to work through the challenges that await them. Open people's hearts to help offer support and encouragement. In Jesus' name we ask this, Amen.

Warrior Wednesday - Marty #6-7

I would like to introduce you to Marty. He is one of my all-time favorites who is still waiting for a family to call his own.Marty will be 10 years old in 2012 and has already been transferred to an institution.

Here is a brief description of him:

Marty has Down syndrome and at the age of 5 months old was given a diagnosis of CP based on his delayed motor development and horizontal nystagmus (both of these things are common in children with Down syndrome). He is described as a quiet and even-tempered child who has adapted quickly to the routine and daily schedule at the institution. He is able to walk independently. He assists with dressing and undressing himself and is learning to feed himself as well. He goes to the toilet when reminded to do so by the staff. He is not yet speaking but demonstrates understanding and follows basic requests.He plays with other children and interacts well with adults. He responds to his name and loves attention from the caregivers. He has a special bond with one specific care giver. He loves to play with toys and shows a preference for stuffed animals.

Please consider donating to Marty or the many other older children that are available through Reece's Rainbow. The season's focus has been on the 0-5 children with Down Syndrome but, nearing the end of the year, I would like to give some focus to the older children as well. They are all well deserving of a family to call their own.

Dear Lord please watch over the older children and let them know that they are loved by You. Walk alongside them while they continue to wait for their family. Lead their family to them so that they may know that belonging and love of a family.In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Yesterday we celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ. I pray that everyone enjoyed their holidays and took time to celebrate with their family. Today we are praising God for the many children that will be with their family next year to know the joy of a family.

Dear Lord, It is always amazing to see how You work in families to lead them to their children. Please watch over these children while they wait for their families and be with their families as they are led in faith to complete their adoptions. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Meet Josie!! Originally it was thought that Josie had Down Syndrome. It was shocking to find that she did not indeed have Down Syndrome but possibly FAS along with other neurological issues. The extent of Josie's medical problems are unknown at this time. The physicians are unsure if she will walk but Josie is young and has time to have these medical issues diagnosed. All Josie needs is a family. Could you be her family?

Dear Lord, please watch over Josie while she waits for a family, keep her healthy and safe. I know that You have a plan for her and in time that will be revealed. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

Dear Lord, Thank you for providing a better life for these precious children. We would like to pray for peace, health and courage for the children and strength for those families who were affected to consider other children who still have hope of being adopted. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

I would like to introduce you to Artem. I had to post about this little guy and wonder to myself, why he does not have a family already. Artem has a sad story as many of the other orphans do but it is believed with a loving family that he will thrive. This is taken from his description:

Despite his difficult beginnings, he is described as a good natured boy, and will thrive in a loving family. Everyone is always sad to see Mondays come around and begin another week. This close to the holidays there is so much to be done but yet work is in our forecast instead. Let this weeks Prayer Warrior Blog be your coffee this morning. Eight children have families!!! Besides all the daily tasks and holiday hustle-bustle their families have found time to commit to them.

Dear Lord, please watch over all these children and the children that have not had their families find them yet. Let them know that they are all Your children and are loved, that You will not leave them alone. I lift up the families that have committed to these children and keep them strong while they find their way through their journey. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Family Friday - Ochs Family

Today I would like to introduce you to the Ochs family. The Ochs family has made trip one but are praying for the funds for trip two. Here is a little about their family:
Ryan and Marj Ochs always felt God's call to adopt, but they thought it would be when their biological children were older – sometime in the ambiguous future. One day Marj was reading a blog about a sweet family who were adopting a boy through Reece's Rainbow. When she clicked on the link to look at the waiting children, one little girl caught her eye. Elvira. She looked just like Ryan's baby pictures! Marj tried to forget about Elvira, but she just couldn't get that sweet face out of her head. She showed the picture to Ryan, and Ryan said, "She's beautiful." This was the same thing Ryan said when he saw their daughter, Georgia, for the first time. They both agreed to pray. After many prayers, tears, and God soothing their fears, they agreed that God was calling them to Russia to meet Elvira. They could ignore God's call no longer.Big brother Colvin (3) and sister Georgia (22 months) are excited to meet their new sister. Colvin wants to give her one of his trains. Any contributions toward their adoption would be a blessing. But most of all, their prayer is that anyone reading this would be open to God speaking into their lives on behalf of children who need mommies and daddies of their own.

There is not much information on Kolina but know that the children that are being adopted in her orphanage are severely malnourished. Family Friday - Wiehl Family

I would like to introduce you to the Wiehl family this friday. The Wiehl family has chosen a slightly different path than other Reece's Rainbow families that I have featured on this blog in the past. They have chosen to accept a blind referral. The Wiehl are unsure of what child is waiting for them but feel confident enough in their faith to allow God to blindly lead them down their path. Below is a little about Michael, Kathy, and their family.

Michael and Kathy were married in 2000 and live in central Alabama. They began their lives together as an unconventional family. Kathy had a 4-1/2 year old daughter, Kayla (now 17) when they first met. A year and a half later, Michael had a six-year-old step-daughter. They were blessed with three more children, Madelyn (8), Nicholas (6) and Benjamin (3). Both Michael and Kathy felt their family was complete after the birth of their son Benjamin, but God’s plans for them proved to be to the contrary. After witnessing close friends of theirs adopt two beautiful children from Ukraine through Reece’s Rainbow in 2011, both Michael and Kathy were inspired. Inspired, but in no way sold on the idea that adoption was in their future. They were more in awe and admiration at the strength, love and faith of their friends. Both Michael and Kathy have been readers and supporters of Reece’s Rainbow for well over a year and had often wondered how anyone could look at all of those precious children in need and somehow pick ONE. And then it happened. They both feel incredibly blessed not just to have such clarity of purpose, but to have both found their relationship with Christ strengthened in a way they never before knew to be possible.

Family Friday - Morris Family

I would like to introduce you to the Morris family. Steve and Katrina are adopting Carlene. The Morris family thought their family was complete until Katrina was advocating for adoption during the month of November. She stumbled upon a blog that was talking about Reece’s Rainbow families. Katrina started to follow one of those families and by December had fallen in love with a little girl named Carlene. A few weeks later, Carlene had found a family and so Katrina started to look at other little girls with Down syndrome because she was feeling like God was calling their family to adopt again.But every time she would start to pray about a little one, they would find a family. She was beginning to think that maybe it wasn’t something they were suppose to do and so she just started to concentrate on fund raising for other families. Then she noticed that Carlene was listed again and she knew that she was her child. Steve and Katrina prayed about it and together decided that the time was right and that they needed to go and get Carlene.Carlene has already been moved to an institution so they are trying hard to get to her as soon as possible. They are excited about starting on this journey and experiencing the joy of having a child with Down syndrome.

Warrior Wednesday - Karen and Chrystyna

Today I would like to present to you two beautiful sisters, Chrystyna and Karen. Karen is a beautiful typical developing teen that will be past the age of adoption if someone does not commit to her immediately. We are unsure, due to her sisters age, if she will allowed to be adopted if she is adopted with her sister. Chrystyna is a beautiful little girl with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome that has been fortunate enough to be moved to a girl's facility and out of the institution. Chrystyna and Karen are living separately and have been waiting a long time for a family. Wouldn't that be a wonderful gift for the holidays, to finally have a family to call their own and to be reunited with one another? Could you be that family? Girl, Born January 12, 1996 Karen is the older, biological sister of Chrystyna. She is a beautiful Roma girl with dark hair, dark eyes, and olive skin. She is 15 years old. She is healthy and smart and has no diagnosed special needs. She goes to school and has no negative behavioral issues. She is just a teen in need of a loving family! Karen and Chrystyna are living in different orphanages, but in the same region. It would be wonderful if they could be adopted together, but our facilitator says it may be possible to adopt them separately. If you might be seeking a sibling set, please inquire! Both girls need a loving family!

Girl, Born January 17, 2002 SIGNIFICANT RISK, PLEASE ADOPT ME SOON!! Chrystyna is a beautiful, brown haired, brown eyed girl who deserves a chance at a better life! Her official orphanage papers say she has developmental delays/difficulties from birth, but nothing more specific than that. It is possible she has FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome). Her biological mother was deprived her parental rights in December 2004, and the biological father is not known. Chrystyna has so much potential, and will be a precious gift to any family who adopts her. Chrystyna is already living in an institution, so we need a family for her right away!Chrystyna does have a sister, Karen. Karen does not have any diagnosed special needs. If you are interested in adopting both girls, you can do so, or Chrystyna is free to be adopted separately. Please inquire! UPDATE: God has been watching Chrystyna. She was recently transferred out of the institution into a wonderful facility, where they teach these children, work with them, and they appear very well cared for. The difference in the few girls who were transferred OUT of the institution is incredible! Please give these girls a second chance for a loving family! If you are unfamiliar with FAS, please spend some time researching this condition. Just as with Down syndrome, FAS and FAE have a wide variation of effects on each child, both medically, physically, and cognitively. This is typically dependent on how long during the pregnancy the mother consumed alcohol, and of course, how much. There is no way to know this ahead of time.

Dear Lord, please watch over these girls while they await a family. Move people's hearts as only You can do to spread the word about these two beautiful girls that are so deserving of a family. Pray that Karen receives a family before she is put out on the streets. In Jesus' Name we ask this, Amen.

We have had an exciting week for the "Other Angels" this week. Two long time waiting children along with a newly listed infant that all truly deserve a family so that they can get the attention and love that they need, only a family can provide. Some don't realized that Reece's Rainbow is more than children with Down Syndrome. They also advocate for children with other special needs such as the children below. If you have never visited these children, please do. There are so many beautiful children waiting for families.

Dear Lord, please watch over these children while their parents prepare to bring them home. Help remove hurdles that may stand in their parents way. Let these children know that their parents are coming soon and that they are loved. In Jesus' name we ask this, Amen.

When Rebecca and Mark saw Sydney, they knew that this was the little girl that was meant to be their daughter. Warrior Wednesday - Wyatt 26HA

It has come to my attention that Wyatt needs a family immediately so I am posting about him this week for Warrior Wednesday. There isn't too much in his description but here is his latest update:

Update Sept 2011: Our little Wyatt is not doing well. He is described as a recumbent patient. He has hydrocephalus and can hardly move his hands. Please let's rally for Wyatt and get him into a family who can save his life!!

Any amount of prayer and support would be helpful for this little guy. Please share on Facebook, Twitter, and your blog how desperately this little guy needs his family. Another amazing week!! Seven children's families have found them. The Angel Tree is a wonderful time of year. It brings more people's attention to Reece's Rainbow and results in so many children finding families. God truly opens people's eyes during this time of giving.

Family Friday - Parker Family

I would like to introduce you to the Parker family. The Parker has committed to Helen. Helen has short bowel syndrome. This will likely affect the rest of her life. She needs her family quickly. Through God their adoption HAS been going VERY quickly. The Parker family can truly use your prayers and support while they try to bring Helen home as quick as they can. Here is a little of what the Parker family had to say about their adoption:

We are Aaron, Molly, Reed and Lena Parker. Reed and Lena were adopted from Ukraine last winter. We were not planning to adopt again so soon, but we felt called to "Helen". If you'd like to read more of that story, please check out our blog. "Helen" has short bowel syndrome. SBS is a condition where half or more of the intestine is removed. "Helen" will probably need special nutrition for the rest of her life. A very generous family has donated approximately half of the money we need for the adoption. However, we still need to fundraise about $5000-$10000. This is in addition to the money that we have put into the adoption. This has been a very fast moving adoption... our first travel date is just two months after the date we committed! We appreciate your prayers and any financial support you can offer.

Dear Lord, I would like to raise the Parker family up in prayer, that they have the necessary funds as they are needed for their adoption. We all know the power of prayer and how through You all things are possible. I would like to pray for Helen that she is kept in good health while her family works hard to bring her home. Warrior Wednesday - Alice S. 8CH

Today I would like to introduce sweet little Alice. I cannot believe her family has not found her yet. Besides being extremely adorable her grant has grown to tremendous amounts. This will be a wonderful blessing to help bring her home. Alice's grant is up to $12122.00, $5090.00 of which was just raised recently on Reece's Rainbow's Angel Tree. Alice is already 5 years old and will soon be transferred to an institution if she does not have a family commit to her soon.

This lovely girl was born 6/2006 at 38 weeks gestation. She is an independent, active, and can move around on her own. She feeds herself easily. She likes to play with toys. She’s had surgery for her heart condition. Surgery for congenital cardiac defect 02/09/07 (ligation of patent ductus arteriosus, suturing open oval window).

My Family Found Me Monday

What a great way to begin the week by announcing the children whose families have found them. We need to sing praises today for these little ones knowing that soon they will be orphans no more. It is amazing to see God at work through this ministry. He has led so many families to their children in the past couple weeks.

Family Friday - Deml Family

Robert and Jen are in the process of adopting three brothers, Bradley, Bryant, and Brooks. They began the process in September, but because Bradley was set to be transferred, their adoption process has gone extremely quickly. If transferred, Bradley may not be able to be adopted at all. Deml's dossier has already been sent to E.E. The orphanage director knows they are coming and have been told that she will hold off the transfer as long as she is able. The Deml family is very thankful that they have been able to get the paperwork done so quickly so that they can bring the boys home. Their focus has been on getting their paperwork submitted quickly. This has allowed little time for fundraising. They still need about $30,000 to bring them home. For Bradley's sake, the Deml's cannot be delayed because of finances. Robert and Jen know God will somehow conquer this mountain for them. He has conquered so many mountains by making this process go so quickly thus far. It is only through prayer that their boys will remain together and be home soon. I would like to introduce Arnold. I would like to give Arnold a little exposure to help his family find him. Little Arnold caught my eye when I saw that he is set to be transferred to an institution when he turn 4. There is still time to adopt Arnold and save him from ever seeing the inside of the institution. As we all know, having a grant helps out a family tremendously. Currently his grant is $0. Please help by adding to it.

Arnold is described as a lovable brown-eyed child of a sunny disposition with an irrepressible interest in the world. He invents various activities with toys, shows animals changing his voice and mimics (a tiger being his favorite), makes jokes, dances using steps learned before. How cute is that?!?

Dear Lord, Please move people's hearts to donate to Arnold's grant and to make it financially possible for a family to bring Arnold home, to save him from ever seeing the walls of an institution. Watch over Arnold and keep him safe. Help Arnold know that his family is out there and when they are able they will come for him. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

Father we praise and thank you for the mighty work you have already done in bringing home many children to forever families. Lord for parents we pray for strength, patience, wisdom and love as they unite families. Hey Friends...well.... I'm changing up Family Fridays a bit. I am finding it difficult to keep straight the order of who is on the newly commited page. Sometimes things jump around. So instead today we are just going to do general prayers on friday for the new families. Lord today we lift up all the new families who have begun this journey of adoption. How exciting and unknown it is! We thank you Lord that you are the author of creation, the author of our lives. You know us all before we are even formed. You know this journey with all it's twists and turns for each of the newly commited families. We thank and praise you for raising them up. We pray that you will raise up your believers to meet every need, comfort every heartache or frustration and pour out your encouragement and love in overflowing abundance to these families. This weeks Prayer Warrior Child of the Week is Anastasia. This sweet little one is in our Other Angel section. Oh don't you just want to hug her? Let's faithfully pray for her this week. Today I'm gonna do something a little different, I'm going to pray scripture over Anastasia. In my mind this not only reminds us and God of His promises to us all, but it is speaking a blessing from the Lord over our sweet Anastasia. I would love to hear if you have a scripture or blessing for Anastasia as well. :)

We thank you Lord that you are a God who has plans for Anastasia and you know what those plans are. We ask you to remember your promises to prosper and not harm Anastasia. Lord that we may see the plans you have for Anastasia unfold, those plans to give her a hope and a future coming to life. (Jeremiah 29:11) We ask Lord that you would quicken our hearts to the Holy Spirits leading as we do our best to help find Anastasia her family and support them on this journey. Urgent Prayer Josiah!

Dearest Josiah was sent to the institution today. Another family witnessed the transition and shared some insights. The caregivers and director have been wonderful. You can tell they care for the people. The director greets everyone in the morning by name with a handshake or hug. Our in-country family has seen these workers go above and beyond in their efforts for the children and families. Yet, this cannot change the reality that this is an institution to house people from ages 4-30. These children and young people are not offered any mental or emotional stimulation and this leads to a rapid decline into mental illness (or anguish,) that you see within the walls of the institution. The system is very broken and limited.

We must find Josiah a family and rise up to support this family, so that he is saved from this fast downward decline! This effort my friends will begin in prayer, dedicated prayer. It will also require other sorts of action. A Reece's Rainbow advocate, Mandy Kenimer, is working with her local organization Cenla Down Syndrome Association (www.cenladsa.org) to unify fundraising efforts for Josiah. They have some great events coming up in Alexandria, Louisiana. If you are interested in these local efforts, please contact Mandy at info@cenladsa.org. During their organization's Zombie Walk, they will be hosting a program called "One Dollar for One Child"-- because everyone, even children, can give a dollar. Their hope is that their community will "adopt" Josiah, showing him and his family that entire cities have cared for him and wanted to bring him home!

Let us not forget that our great work is prayer, and this is where all great actions begin. Pray with me...

Father, how our hearts break over Josiah and his need. Please Father we ask you to bring to him a family. Bring a family that is ready to quickly dig into the work of Josiah's rescue. Father we ask that you would bless the efforts being made on Josiah's behalf. Please Lord, stir the hearts of many people to donate and support Josiah and his Family to Be, aiding in his rescue. Father we ask that you are protecting Josiah in body, mind and spirit. Send someone to show him love and kindness every day. Lord we ask for things that seem impossible such as toys, or more caregivers to interact with all the residents of Josiah's institution. We ask for changes in systems so that everyone is kept stimulated, growing and moving ahead. These things seem impossible to us, but nothing is impossible for you Lord. We thank you Lord for the mighty works we expect to see as you move your body to rescue Josiah. We ask all these things in your son's name. Amen.

Nicholas should be experiencing the wonders of being 9 yrs old. Let us be on our knees, there is still life and hope for Nicholas if a family comes for him.

Father in Heaven, please come in and do something miraculous for Nicholas! He is your beloved, how it must break your heart to see his hurting. Show us Father what it is you would have each one of us who knows of Nicholas' need, do on his behalf. Please remember to continue to pray for Elena our prayer warrior child of the week. Also this week we lost two dear RR children-Dakota and Lera. These little ones are now in the arms of Jesus. Yet I know that there are many left behind that ache with the tragedy of a child leaving this earth, never knowing the love of a family. Hello Reece's Rainbow Prayer Warriors! My name is Amy Peterson and I am a fellow Prayer Warrior in your ranks. I am passionate about prayer and my heart is full of love and compassion for orphaned children. So it is with great joy that I take on this new adventure of "prayer blogging" with Reece's Rainbow Prayer Warrior Blog.

We are encouraged time and time again to "pray without ceasing" or "lift everything by prayer and petition." We also are comforted that God is near to those who are praying and His heart is moved by prayers. We also know how tender the Father's heart is towards the orphan. So if all these things are true, what a wonderful opportunity we have been given friends! We have been given the chance to pray all the time to a God who IS listening and cares about the children of this world. So let us take up the "great work of prayer" as Oswald Chambers says with joyful earnestness.

Here on the RR Prayer Warrior blog we want to partner with you in sharing prayer needs of RR children and families so that you can share in the work of prayer that touches the Father's heart. We will strive to make prayer requests easy and accessible. Some of the ways we will do this is to provide themed days, such as My Family Found Me Mondays. On a MFFM Monday you will see highlighted children who have recently been found, so that we may offer praise and prayer on their behalf.

In addition to themed days, you can look forward to weekly prayers for Prayer Warrior Child of the Week, urgent child/family requests, praise reports and inspirational messages to encourage you in your prayer mission field. We will kick off the new features next week.

I look forward to partnering with you as we join together in the "great work of prayer" on behalf of RR children and families. As we move forward together, I offer this prayer for all of our Prayer Warriors:
