<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> <span style="background-color: white;">Apert Syndrome is a genetic </span><span style="background-color: white;">defect and falls under the broad classification of craniofacial/limb anomalie</span></span><span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">s. It can be inherited from a parent who has Apert, or may be a fresh mutation. It occurs in approximately 1 in</span> <span style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">160,000 to 200,000 live births. Apert syndrome is primarily characterized by specific malformations of the skull, midface, hands, and feet. The skull is prematurely fused and unable to grow normally; the midface (that area of the face from the middle of the eye socket to the upper jaw) appears retruded or sunken; and the fingers and toes are fused together in varying degrees.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> To learn more about this syndrome, you can go</span><span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> </span><a href="http://www.apert.org/apert.htm" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">here.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Reeces Rainbow have a few kids listed that have Apert syndrome.</span>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">These kids are typically normal cognitively developed. Their most special need is for a family.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Achondroplasia is a genetic disorder of bone growth that is evident at birth. Affected individuals have arms and legs that are very short, while the torso is nearly normal size. Achondroplasia is the most common form of dwarfism. <a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/">Reeces Rainbow</a> have three little kids listed with this diagnosis.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The word achondroplasia is Greek and means "without cartilage formation," although individuals with achondroplasia do have cartilage. During fetal development and childhood, cartilage normally develops into bone, except in a few places, such as the nose and ears. In individuals with achondroplasia, something goes wrong during this process, especially in the long bones (such as those of the upper arms and thighs). The rate at which cartilage cells in the growth plates of the long bones turn into bone is slow, leading to short bones and reduced height. Individuals with achondroplasia usually have normal intelligence and a normal life span.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There is a strong supporting community for people with dwarfism; <a href="http://www.lpaonline.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=37298&orgId=lpa">Little people of America.</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is <a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/32923/oliver">Oliver</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
He was born in March 2007, which makes him five years old. Sadly, most of those five years have been spent laying in a crib.He looks so very sad, my heart just breaks for him. Oliver is facing transfer to the institution VERY SOON, and will remain bedridden the rest of his life if he is not adopted. He does have a grant of $3500 towards the cost of his adoption. He really needs a family to give him the chance to live and blossom.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And this is Lauren.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzTSdGHuq30cewYyjaPpUNSedmphksrwdxzxLWsPB4Z7ztON9_GUTo1usXEw0iNd6Sr1ZqGSsrkkH168tJL75gF66tJGLNW6bMrLZ2zAnYkuL0yuEOqHSCAkfTz8HZwRKZGrsU1tf2nJU/s1600/Lauren.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzTSdGHuq30cewYyjaPpUNSedmphksrwdxzxLWsPB4Z7ztON9_GUTo1usXEw0iNd6Sr1ZqGSsrkkH168tJL75gF66tJGLNW6bMrLZ2zAnYkuL0yuEOqHSCAkfTz8HZwRKZGrsU1tf2nJU/s1600/Lauren.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Isn't she just a doll? Can you imagine her running and playing with long hair and a pretty dress? Going to school, meet friends and learn? All that is possible, but for that to happen, she needs a family that will come for her, adopt her, believe in her an love her. She is in an institution, that used to be really bad, but tanks to organizations like<a href="http://www.life2orphans.org/cms/"> Life 2 orphans</a>, the conditions have improved some.A family that is there adopting right now, says that they see smiling and happy children. This of course is fantastic, but still a family would be a miracle for Lauren. In the country she lives, people with a disability like hers, are seen as a shame to the family :-(</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lauren was born January 2002, and is 10 years old. Look at her beautiful smile, I bet she would smile even bigger if she found a family.This is her <a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/1731/lauren105">profile</a>.She only ha $50 in her grant, so even if you are not in a position to adopt her, would you be willing to donate to her grant? And please spread the word about this little beauty.<br />
<br />
And just recently little <a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/38546/temperance-15h">Temperance</a> was listed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjFmCruOiJbMCQf5nDBYQJM4I6WL8ESmbpkdH40E7Y-y4LDS66qLuuno4V7zEFQCAzwbBhB60OO_RA-b0MyAqUdna5goIHWQFldnB5XTSuTKP-8cJqpdHyDwb9DU7BuQKJeGgpTcQtjQQi/s1600/temp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjFmCruOiJbMCQf5nDBYQJM4I6WL8ESmbpkdH40E7Y-y4LDS66qLuuno4V7zEFQCAzwbBhB60OO_RA-b0MyAqUdna5goIHWQFldnB5XTSuTKP-8cJqpdHyDwb9DU7BuQKJeGgpTcQtjQQi/s1600/temp.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She is in a different country than Oliver and Lauren. She is in a really good place right now, but that will all change as soon as she turns four. Most probably, she will be transferred to a mental institution. Please consider if she could be part of your family? She is not yet one year old, and could lead a full and happy life if she was adopted.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/38452/zeke-l">Zeke</a> and <a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/37470/moses">Moses</a> also have different forms of dwarfism. <a href="http://www.lpaonline.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=37298&orgId=lpa">Little people of America</a> offers lots of ideas on how to finanace an adoption, and they also offers grants to families adopting children with dwarfism. It didn't take us long to get used to the diet, and know it is an issue we seldom think about. toxic Hepatitis, </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">Toxic hepatitis is an inflammation of your liver in reaction to certain substances to which you're exposed. Toxic hepatitis can be caused by alcohol, chemicals, drugs or supplements. </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">In some cases, toxic hepatitis develops within hours or days of exposure to a toxin. In other cases, it may take months of regular use before signs and symptoms of toxic hepatitis appear. </span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">The symptoms of toxic hepatitis often go away when exposure to the toxin stops. But toxic hepatitis can permanently damage your liver, leading to irreversible scarring of liver tissue (cirrhosis) and in some cases to liver failure.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">This can be controlled and medicated at home.</span></i></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
hypotrophy of III stage</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">The clinical signs of hypotrophy are the decrease of subcutaneous fat on abdomen (at the 1st stage), on extremities (at the 2nd stage), on the face (at the 3rd stage). At the 3rd stage of hypotrophy, the child's face looks like the face of Old man ("Volter's face"). Besides this, the decrease of skin elasticity, turgur and body length, delay of neuropsychological development and weakness of immune system take place. Most children coming home from orphanages have some degree of this, but it is treated with getting enough and healthy food.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
From our team who visited there: Haven is afraid of strangers and would not interact with us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;">This is what made me notice Haven among all the children needing families. Her scared expression. I hope she finds a family before she has to be transferred to an institution where everyone are strangers to her. Where she doesn't know anybody. How scared will that make her?</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: red;"><br /></span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So please help Haven find a family. If you are not them, then spread the word about her, use facebook, twitter, yahoogroups, talk to people about her. Haven needs a safe and loving environment. She needs a chance to feel safe.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
I first saw her picture last February: a three-year-old in a
bright yellow jumper, smiling shyly out from the rows of little faces on the
HIV + Reece’s Rainbow page. Her name was Hope.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
I stumbled on the Reece’s Rainbow site through a series of
links from the blog of a broken-hearted mother unable to complete an adoption
from EE. So many children needing families… I had always known vaguely about
orphanages in EE, and dreaming of going to work there, but seeing all the faces
made the problem seem overwhelming. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
I know it will be years before I’m able to
adopt- I’m single, no job, no house, and working on a doctorate degree
(expensive AND time consuming!) outside my home country. But I went compulsively
through the profiles, alternately praying and despairing. And then Hope’s face
drew me in. I couldn’t pray for them all, but I could pray for one, I decided.
So I became Hope’s prayer warrior. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
She was on my screensaver, on my mind almost every night
when I lay in bed… and then one day she disappeared. Vanished. I checked My
Family Found Me. I eventually got up the courage to check the In Memoriam page.
Thanks be to God, she wasn’t there… but it turned out her region had been
closed. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: left;">
Too late. I still pray for her sometimes, but I wonder what
her future will be like. Will there be any good news for her this side of
heaven? We can’t know. In many cases, we just don’t know what our prayers are
doing. But people, let’s keep believing in what we can’t always see. Let’s not
lose hope that God is taking care of Hope and for so many others that are ready and waiting to come
home to families. There are so many waiting, and there is so much we can pray for. Keep going!</div>

Dear Lord, We are thankful that these children have families coming for them, that they will know the unconditional love of a family. They will not be forgotten or left behind. We ask that you hear our prayers for the many other children who have been waiting, some that only have a short time left, that they have their families find them as well. Please watch over all the children while they continue to wait. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.<br>Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145664008952470304.post-28626690328733791912012-03-12T13:02:00.003-07:002012-03-12T13:02:52.395-07:00My Family Found Me MondaySome answered prayers have happened this week for children that have been waiting a long time for their families. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145664008952470304.post-5467592733135456022012-02-29T10:55:00.001-08:002012-02-29T10:55:55.091-08:00Warrior Wednesday - Duncan and SamuelDuncan and Samuel will be aging out of the system soon in their countries. At age 16 they will no longer be available for adoption. Both these boys are in desperate need of families. The chance that they will enter into a life of crime is very high if they do not have a family come for them.

From a family who met him in Feb 2012:
Duncan very much wants a family. He is smart and works hard. He gets along well with others. Duncan struggles with facing the future here in his native country. He knows that unless a miracle happens and he gets adopted (or a family commits and gets USCIS approval) in the next few months, he is going to be sent to a mental institution, even though mentally, he has no issues. Duncan appears to have CP, and he is small for his age (about the size of a 13 year old). Duncan's medical information is en route from the orphanage now, but the family who met him and who he approached to ask for a family and the facilitator want to go ahead and get his information and picture out there.
Duncan uses a walker to walk and is independent in mobility. Duncan is a compassionate teen and one who says he "fears even to hope for a family, because he doesn't think anyone would want him because he isn't handsome". In fact, when it was time to pose for this picture, Duncan worried that someone would see it and then not want him. Duncan needs a family to show him God looks on the heart to see beauty (even though he's a quite handsome boy regardless)- and so do Christian families. Duncan's heart is big, and he is well-loved in this orphanage. Many worry for him if he doesn't get adopted before he turns 16 and it is too late.
Please, if you are interested, contact RR right away. The family who met him is also very willing to talk to anyone who wants more information.

From a family who met him in Feb 2012:
Sam is an AMAZING young man! He is friendly, good-natured, has a good sense of humor, and loves soccer (futbol). He is very good at soccer, and has gone to a camp for great players in Poland a few summers ago. Sam very much wants a family in America- he approached a family adopting there and asked many questions about it, and has talked to the orphanage staff before about how much he wants a family- for parents to love him, encourage him, and support him.
Sam's disability is very minor- he has malformed fingers on both hands that appear to be due to banding of some sort. Otherwise, he is healthy. Because of this disability, he was sent to a special needs orphanage. He is very smart, has already started learning English in school at the orphanage and is well-liked by his friends. Sam's faith in God is very important to him and he would like a family who also worships God, who will encourage his gifts in soccer, and who will tell him "I love you" and listen to him as he talks.
Sam has goals for the future, and would like to play soccer and go to college, but he knows his life in his home country will not give him those chances. He is very intelligent, very respectful and has a great perspective about adoption, because he has a friend already adopted into the US. The family that met him in February 2012 will be happy to answer questions about him as well. Sam eagerly posed for the pictures, and begged the family and facilitator to please not forget him and to find him a family fast!<br>
Dear Lord, please lead both of these boys' families to them. Allow for funds to not be an obstacle to both of these boys having a family. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145664008952470304.post-65066794484766583112012-02-27T10:57:00.000-08:002012-02-27T10:57:01.198-08:00My Family Found Me Monday<br>I know it has been awhile since the last post. Andrea, director of Reece's Rainbow has posted a Moving Mountains challenge. This page, http://reecesrainbow.org/category/waitingchildren/movingmountains, lists all children with grants of over $2500. We all know that finances are the biggest mountain to climb up and over in adoption. This page shows the sizable grants that move this mountain for families, or at least make it appear more as a hill than mountain. Please visit this page and see the wonderful grants that these children have available to them. These grants are not based on need of the family. They are guaranteed grants to be applied towards your adoption once you receive your first travel date. Some of the children are:<br><br>

Dear Lord, Thank you for another amazing week. Thank you for placing these children on so many people's hearts. We pray that these families are able to travel fast so that these children can finally know the love of a family that they deserve. Pray that obstacles seem small and that these families have the support that they need once their children are home. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

It was recently posted that 196 children found families last year through Reece's Rainbow. It would be wonderful to exceed that number in 2012. Take a look at the children who's families found them this week.<br><br>

He is one of my all-time favorites who is still waiting for a family to call his own.Marty will be 10 years old in 2012 and has already been transferred to an institution. <br><br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/wp-content/uploads/images/200x201x574_Marty.jpg.pagespeed.ic.nAxJKq2q_Q.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="201" width="200" src="http://reecesrainbow.org/wp-content/uploads/images/200x201x574_Marty.jpg.pagespeed.ic.nAxJKq2q_Q.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>
Here is a brief description of him: <br><br>
Marty has Down syndrome and at the age of 5 months old was given a diagnosis of CP based on his delayed motor development and horizontal nystagmus (both of these things are common in children with Down syndrome). He is described as a quiet and even-tempered child who has adapted quickly to the routine and daily schedule at the institution. He is able to walk independently. He assists with dressing and undressing himself and is learning to feed himself as well. He goes to the toilet when reminded to do so by the staff. He is not yet speaking but demonstrates understanding and follows basic requests.He plays with other children and interacts well with adults. He responds to his name and loves attention from the caregivers. He has a special bond with one specific care giver. He loves to play with toys and shows a preference for stuffed animals.<br><br>
Please consider donating to Marty or the many other older children that are available through Reece's Rainbow. The season's focus has been on the 0-5 children with Down Syndrome but, nearing the end of the year, I would like to give some focus to the older children as well. They are all well deserving of a family to call their own.<br><br>
Dear Lord please watch over the older children and let them know that they are loved by You. Walk alongside them while they continue to wait for their family. Lead their family to them so that they may know that belonging and love of a family.In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.<br>Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145664008952470304.post-76288440569291564202011-12-26T07:15:00.000-08:002011-12-26T07:15:57.111-08:00My Family Found Me MondayYesterday we celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ. Originally it was thought that Josie had Down Syndrome. It was shocking to find that she did not indeed have Down Syndrome but possibly FAS along with other neurological issues. All Josie needs is a family. Could you be her family?<br><br>

I had to post about this little guy and wonder to myself, why he does not have a family already. Artem has a sad story as many of the other orphans do but it is believed with a loving family that he will thrive. This is taken from his description:<br><br>
Despite his difficult beginnings, he is described as a good natured boy, and will thrive in a loving family. He does have a minor myocardiopathy that should be followed once home, but he is active and doing much better now that he is in the orphanage.
FULL MEDICAL RECORDS AVAILABLE! SINGLE MOMS WELCOME

Dear Lord, please watch over all these children and the children that have not had their families find them yet. Let them know that they are all Your children and are loved, that You will not leave them alone. I lift up the families that have committed to these children and keep them strong while they find their way through their journey. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145664008952470304.post-67243479548189786692011-12-09T06:50:00.001-08:002011-12-09T06:59:36.581-08:00Family Friday - Ochs FamilyToday I would like to introduce you to the Ochs family. The Ochs family has made trip one but are praying for the funds for trip two. Here is a little about their family:<br>
Ryan and Marj Ochs always felt God's call to adopt, but they thought it would be when their biological children were older – sometime in the ambiguous future. One day Marj was reading a blog about a sweet family who were adopting a boy through Reece's Rainbow. When she clicked on the link to look at the waiting children, one little girl caught her eye. Elvira. She looked just like Ryan's baby pictures! Marj tried to forget about Elvira, but she just couldn't get that sweet face out of her head. She showed the picture to Ryan, and Ryan said, "She's beautiful." This was the same thing Ryan said when he saw their daughter, Georgia, for the first time. They both agreed to pray. After many prayers, tears, and God soothing their fears, they agreed that God was calling them to Russia to meet Elvira. They could ignore God's call no longer.Big brother Colvin (3) and sister Georgia (22 months) are excited to meet their new sister. Colvin wants to give her one of his trains. Any contributions toward their adoption would be a blessing. But most of all, their prayer is that anyone reading this would be open to God speaking into their lives on behalf of children who need mommies and daddies of their own.<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://reecesrainbow.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Elvira-225x300.jpg.pagespeed.ce.MOS6vWSDli.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="225" src="http://reecesrainbow.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Elvira-225x300.jpg.pagespeed.ce.MOS6vWSDli.jpg" /></a></div><br>
The Ochs family invites you to read about their testimony on their blog http://www.aplantingforhisglory.blogspot.com/ and follow along on the rest of their journey. Be sure to visit Marj's beautiful Etsy shop. Every purchase helps them bring their daughter home.<br><br>
Dear Lord, I lift up the Ochs family to you. I pray that people will feel led to support their adoption and help them during their final steps of their adoption. I pray that Ella remains healthy while she waits for her Mommy and Daddy to return to take her home. I pray that you keep the Ochs family strong during the holiday season when it is so hard to be away from loved ones and help them remember that this is the last holiday season that they will be separated. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
